Ada’s room at Temple Forest Monastery

On this day last year, Ada was staying at the Temple Forest Monastery in Temple, New Hampshire, US.
She spent a fortnight there — from October 26 through November 8, 2024 — and on November 1 she took this photo from her room as the morning sun rose.

One of the themes she carried with her during that stay was her sister Mele’s passing in early August 2024.
It had not always been an easy relationship, yet Mele’s daughter Angelika — Ada’s niece — kindly sent us some of her mother’s ashes, which we scattered in September in the hills above Rossura.

Near Rossura

When Ada was passing, I had been in touch with Ajahn Pasadiko, one of the monks at the monastery. He wrote me a deeply touching letter at that time.
As I wished to share a few lines from it for this day of remembrance, I reached out to ask his permission.

He replied:

Dear Ulf,

You are certainly welcome to quote from any part of the email I sent to you that seems appropriate or helpful. It is my honor and joy to be a part of the day of remembrance of dear Ada, and we monastics will chant a remembrance blessing on November 1st in her honor here at the monastery.

With all good wishes,
Ajahn Pasadiko
